The department of Mathematics was established in 1947. Department has one Associate Professor and two Assistant Professors for UG and one Associate Professor and one Assistant Professors for Diploma. The Department has always updated itself and changed the thrust area of teaching & Research over the years tune with UGC-AICTE Guideline.
Engineering mathematics (also called Mathematical Engineering) is a branch of applied mathematics concerning mathematical methods and techniques that are typically used in engineering and industry. It combines mathematical theory, practical engineering and scientific computing to address today's technological challenges. It is a creative and exciting discipline, spanning traditional boundaries. Tought as interdisciplinary subject in various courses of the college, addresses engineers' needs both for practical, theoretical and other considerations outwith their specialization, and to deal with constraints to be effective in their work.
The department offers Engineering Mathematics I, Engineering Mathematics II,Engineering Mathematics III, Applied Mathematics III, Linear Algebra, Statistics and fuzzy Systems for UG and Basic Mathematics , Engineering Mathematics II,Engineering Mathematics III for Diploma.
The faculty members of Mathematics Department are focused on research work in the area of Fluid mechanics, Relativity, History of Mathematics and Complex Analysis and have published many research papers in National and international Journals ,also visited USA, Turkey,Israel, Portugal, Honkong,Malaysia, China as visiting Professor, attending conference or for collaboration .Department hasconducted international workshop on complex analysis in 2012 and workshop on “ Algorithmic Game theory” joint with IT department in December 2014 and also previously conducted short term courses. Department takes Remedial classes for failed students and extra classes for direct admitted students.
In 1947, WCE was founded in Sangli with just over 60 students. Today, it has more than 4,000 students taking various courses in Engineering and Technology. We create opportunities not just for young minds to learn, but also for them to experience the fulfillment that comes from sharing this learning with others. At WCE, we are always focused on delivering education that will help create the leaders of tomorrow’s world – our students will not just be successful in their individual capacities, but will in turn, contribute to and nurture the world they live in.
